Welcome to Dragons Rowing Club

About us
We are a community of Masters rowers and one of the few Brisbane rowing clubs located on the North side of the Brisbane river.
Our rowing community is passionate about the sport of rowing, each member on their own ever evolving journey, enjoying the physical and mental challenge, along with the fitness, lifestyle & social benefits that rowing brings. Our club facility is located beside Breakfast Creek in Albion, rowing out onto the Brisbane river in the direction of the Gateway Bridge or New Farm Park/Brisbane City.
Under the direction of our committed Vice President, Captain and qualified Coaching, our membership offers 2 unique aspects:
- A weekly rowing roster, where each rower is scheduled in boats throughout the week based on their skills and availability
- A weekly on-water and off-water (erg) program for rowers to follow, designed by the head coach and communcated to members via app for individual progress and upcoming regatta training.
Our fleet offers scull and sweep rowing in all boat classes. We cater predominanlty for individuals who already row, or who have previous rowing experience. The ability to scull proficiently in doubles & quads is important, in order to roster efficiently. We occasionaly run learn to row sessions if volunteer capacity allows. Despite our name, we do not partcipate in kayaking or dragon boating.
We have no plans to schedule a Learn to Row program in 2026

Our history
Our Club was founded in 1994 and has prospered through the hard work and energy of its passionate volunteer club members. We originated from a small group of parents from the St Margarets school, the same school with which we share a rowing shed facility on Sandgate Road, Albion today.
On founding the club we were named Dragons Rowing Club, which has influenced our rowing fleet: each boat named after famous dragons. You may see the Saphira, Draco or Scylla boats, 3 of many that venture out on the stretch of river between the Breakfast Creek and the Gateway Bridge or perhaps along the Powerhouse stretch up to New Farm Park.
